Struck from approximately 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper, this historic ten-cent piece is distinguished by the Large 4 date variety, referring to the larger numeral “4” used in the 1834 date.

The Capped Bust Dime design originated with John Reich and was later modified by William Kneass. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty wearing a cap secured by a band inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by 13 stars with the date 1834 below. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with the denomination 10 C. beneath.

The Large 4 is a recognized date style for the 1834 Capped Bust Dime and adds extra appeal for collectors interested in the die and date varieties found throughout early American coinage.

In Very Fine (VF) Details condition, this example retains strong overall design definition despite moderate circulation wear. Liberty's portrait, cap, date and distinctive Large 4, reverse eagle, denomination, and surrounding lettering remain clearly recognizable.
