1835 Capped Bust Quarter - Fine Details
Own a classic piece of early American coinage with this 1835 Capped Bust Quarter in Fine Details condition. Struck by the United States Mint from 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper, this historic quarter was produced during the early years of the nation's expanding economy and remains a favorite among collectors of pre-Civil War coinage.
Designed by William Kneass, the obverse features Liberty wearing a soft cap with flowing curls, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a Union shield on its chest, clutching arrows and an olive branch beneath the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination 25 C.
Graded Fine Details, this coin retains moderate overall detail with many major design elements still clearly visible. Liberty's portrait, portions of the hair, drapery, and the eagle's feathers remain well-defined, but the coin has received a Details designation due to an impairment such as cleaning, scratches, environmental damage, rim damage, or another surface issue. While these factors prevent a straight numerical grade, this remains an appealing and affordable example of an increasingly scarce early U.S. quarter.
