1909-O Barber Quarter - AG Details (Bent Rim)
Add a well-circulated piece of early 20th-century American silver coinage to your collection with this 1909-O Barber Quarter in About Good (AG) Details condition. Struck at the New Orleans Mint from 90% silver and 10% copper, this issue comes from the final years of coin production at the historic New Orleans facility, which ceased minting operations in 1909.
Designed by Charles E. Barber, Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, the obverse features a right-facing portrait of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and laurel wreath. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest, clutching an olive branch and arrows. The “O” mintmark, located beneath the eagle, identifies the coin as a product of the New Orleans Mint.
In About Good (AG) Details condition, this coin exhibits extensive circulation wear, with much of the finer detail worn smooth. The date, Liberty's portrait, reverse eagle, denomination, and other major elements remain identifiable.
This example has a Bent Rim, meaning a portion of the coin's rim has been bent or distorted. This damage prevents the coin from receiving a straight numerical grade but does not take away from its historical significance as a final-year New Orleans Mint quarter.
