Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, this historic cent was struck during the early years of the Lincoln Cent series and features the beloved original Wheat Reverse design.
Designed by Victor David Brenner, the obverse features a right-facing portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, with IN GOD WE TRUST above, LIBERTY to the left, and the date 1913 to the right. The small “S” mintmark beneath the date identifies this coin as having been struck at the San Francisco Mint.
The reverse features two wheat ears framing the denomination ONE CENT and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM above. This classic reverse was used on Lincoln Cents from 1909 through 1958.
In Good (G) condition, this coin exhibits heavy circulation wear while retaining an identifiable date and mintmark along with the major design elements. Lincoln's portrait, reverse wheat ears, denomination, and principal lettering remain recognizable.
