1945-D Mercury Dime - AU+
Add a high-grade final-year Mercury Dime to your collection with this 1945-D Mercury Dime in About Uncirculated+ (AU+) condition. Struck from 90% silver and 10% copper, this historic dime comes from the final year of the Mercury Dime series, which was replaced by the Roosevelt Dime in 1946.
Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the obverse features Liberty wearing a winged cap, symbolizing freedom of thought. Its resemblance to the Roman god Mercury inspired the popular “Mercury Dime” nickname. The reverse features a fasces, representing strength through unity, alongside an olive branch symbolizing peace. The “D” mintmark identifies this example as having been struck at the Denver Mint.
In About Uncirculated+ (AU+) condition, this coin sits near the upper end of the circulated grade range. It retains excellent overall design definition with only slight traces of wear on the highest points. Much of the original mint luster may remain, giving the coin strong visual appeal and an appearance approaching Mint State quality.
